Strictly Rhythms Vol. 6 was released this week, on this occasion compiled and mixed by up-and-coming DJ and producer Ramon Tapia.

Being half Dutch and half Chilean means he admits being influenced by both gabba (“just something that the whole school listened to”) and Latin music, however his decidedly adult selection for Strictly couldn’t be further from his happy hardcore days. Kicking off with the melodic, uplifting piano of Endangered Species’ ‘Ping Pong’, Tapia has favoured jazzy, deep house grooves with classics such as ‘Choices’, DJ Sneak’s ‘Dancin’, and Kings of Tomorrow’s ‘Czar’.

“To make the track listing and choose the tracks, I did some research into my old records of SR and of course their huge back catalogue” Tapia explains.  “With the help of friends (Marco Resmann, Dave Brody, Anton Pietee, Delete & Kabale und Liebe) this compilation is full of variation but still Strictly Rhythm!”

Past guest DJs on Strictly compilations have included Mr V and Radio Slave. “I did earlier this year an EP on Strictly Rhythm, ‘This Groove’, and it was one of the best selling Strictly Rhythms of the year, so that’s why the A&R from SR – Seamus Haji – thought about asking me, and of course I took the chance with both hands when he did.”

Strictly Rhythms Vol. 6 is out now.
