If you’re starved of new music you could do much worse than look up Soundcrash. They host the kind of events where you might find yourself marvelling at a whizz kid’s experiments with Ableton Live, staring in awe at a jazz virtuoso’s prowess on the double bass, or being moved by a politically conscious lyric, sometimes all at once. Just take a look at their calendar over the next few months: there’s videomaker supreme Chris Cunningham, the wonderfully eloquent Ghostpoet and Saharan sensations Tinariwen.

On the 19th of March Soundcrash will take over XOYO to present a showcase of exciting new hip hop and electronica. Headliner Wagon Christ, aka Luke Vibert, is celebrating the release of new album Toomorrow on Ninja Tune, expect a blend of trippy electronica and hypnotising vocal loops. French producer dÉbruit favours funky, bass-heavy rhythms and will also be previewing material from his upcoming album, with the addition of a live band. Ceephax, brother of none other than Squarepusher, brings his highly melodic brand of acid-inflected electronica to the East End, while former English lecturer and poet Mike Ladd will appear under his Infesticons pseudonym to deliver a dose of raw punk sentimentality merged with old school hip hop. Additionally Young Montana? provide further support in the form of glitchy, bleeping tunes – they’ve worked with LA’s Gaslamp Killer as well as remixing sunny duo Beat Connection’s new single.
