What Weekly Magazine will transform the club formerly known as the Spy Bar into a 1940’s Southern Hoodoo Dance party hosted by WYPR’s Aaron Henkin and featuring jazz legend Lafayette Gilchrist to celebrate Baynard Woods’ non-fiction book, Coffin Point: The Strange Case of Ed McTeer, Witchdoctor Sheriff. (It’s AWESOME BTW. We’ve read it-Eds)

The book reading and banjo playing will be followed by three live bands.The Hoodoo Dance Party will be invoked by El Suprimo thereafter. Costumes are encouraged: Early 20th century vintage and folk magic.

The event will take place on the 2nd and 3rd floors of 15 E. Centre Street in Baltimore on Thursday, March 31, 2011. Doors at 7, performances a 8pm. Free event.

We’ll be there to get the hoodoo. Can’t wait.
