Having already confounded expectations with debut EP Hot New Trash, FOE’s forthcoming single ‘Deep Water Heartbreaker’ continues her guttural theme. Produced by Entrepreneurs and mixed by Craig Silvey (who has previously worked with Arcade Fire and Pearl Jam), ‘Deep Water Heartbreaker’ is influenced by 90s post-grunge – think Garbage circa 1995 – accompanied by sleazy vocals, electric drums, distorted guitars and dizzying fairground percussion. B-side ‘The Fox’ is a stripped-back affair which takes a look at the dark and murderous underbelly of British suburbia.

Wig-wearing, face-painted FOE has collaborated with Entrepreneurs and Ghostpoet on the splendid ‘Fuck Tactics’, supported German hardcore band Atari Teenage Riot on their recent UK tour, and was personally invited by Steve Lamacq to a BBC Introducing Session. Her own mini UK tour is taking place this month, with stints in Manchester, Leeds and Nottingham.

Deep Water Heartbreaker is out on August 8th on Stella Mortos/Vertigo Records.
