Man, forget Baltimore Fashion Weak. The ONLY fashion event to need to check out is this little gem of a show being put on by local designer Jè Liberated.
Concrete Rose, on Saturday, will feature music by the city’s new hip-hop force Go DDM and The King of Pop Trash Nick Jenner.
The show will feature Liberated’s collection.
We had a second to tie this hot designer down.
This is what he had to say (we <3'ed it): "WELL I'M 19 I BEEN IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY FOR TWO YEARS NOW AND OVER THE TWO YEARS I BECAME MORE SECURE WITH MYSELF AND MY WORK AND I WAS LOOKED AT AS A FREE SPIRITED PERSON WHICH I AM AND THAT'S WHERE THE NAME LIBERATED CAME FROM LIBERATED IS THE NAME OF MY LINE AND I'M NOW WORKING ON MY COLLECTION "CONCRETE ROSE". IVE ALWAYS BEEN VERY INTO FASHION IT KINDA RUNS IN MY FAMILY MY GRANDMOTHER WAS A SEAMSTRESS AND MY MOM WORKED IN RETAIL FOR CLOSE TO 10 YEARS BUT I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE IN FASHION I ACTUALLY STARTED OUT AS A MODEL IN 2004 THEN I REALIZED I WANTED TO BE THE PERSON BEHIND MAKING THE CONCEPTS AND LOOKS . I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN BALTIMORE MARYLAND .MY OPINION ON THE FASHION SCENE HERE IN BALTIMORE IS THAT I'M ACTUALLY SURPRISED GROWING UP I NEVER SEEN A LOT OF GOOD THINGS IN BALTIMORE BUT IN THE PASS 4 YEARS IVE SEEN SO MUCH THINGS THAT I NEVER KNEW WAS HERE AND MET SO MANY TALENTED DESIGNERS / STYLISTS AND I ALSO THINK THAT BALTIMORE IS DEFINITELY ON THE COME UP MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE FASHION SCENE IS THAT SO FAR PEOPLE WHO WERE HERE BEFORE ME HAS REALLY BEEN SHOWING ME A LOT OF SUPPORT AND I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT FROM THE BMORE SCENE KIDS :):) NOW MY WORST THING ABOUT THE SCENE IS THAT WERE SUCH A SMALL GROUP I WISH MORE PEOPLE IN BALTIMORE WERE A LITTLE MORE CREATIVE AND OPEN MINDED BECAUSE BY US HAVING SUCH A SMALL POPULATION OF FASHION KIDS A LOT OF TIMES WERE LOOKED AT AS WEIRD AND MISUNDERSTOOD I HATE THAT BUT ITS ALL GOOD I NO THAT WERE GETTING THERE SOON!" Yeah. Run tell dat! The show is Saturday 6:30-9 at the Eubie Blake Cultural Center
