Scottish bands are set to battle it out this weekend in Glasgow in the Scottish Regional Finals of underground music competition, “Surface Fest”.

Local Glasgow band Black Velvet are among the bands battling it out and will face a host of Scottish bands from genres ranging from rock, grunge and heavy metal.

The winner will compete in the Finals in London.

Black Velvet are a four piece hard rock band from Dumbarton and Clyde Bank whose catchy riffs, aggressive vocals and killer guitar solos have caught the attention of avid gig goers throughout Scotland. Over the past year the band have gone through many qualifying events; selling out popular live venues Ivory Blacks and Classic Grand.

Since forming in August 2011 Black Velvet have built a great reputation with fans and other local bands; Scott Taylor (Vocals) James Bird (Lead Guitar) Adam Reynolds (Bass) and Sean McKay (Drums) take influence from bands such as Black Label Society, Alter Bridge, Metallica and Black Sabbath.

Over the past year they have taken time away from the gig circuit to focus on their music and their image; no doubt fans will be in for memorable show upon their return.

Black Velvet will be playing The G2 (Garage) on Saturday 8th September 2012. Doors will open from 7pm and tickets can be bought from the bands involved for £10.00.

Fans can vote for their favorite artist by text; for Black Velvet text Scotland 7023 to 64343.
