Glasgow Gigs This Week

After the shock split of My Chemical Romance last year, frontman, Gerard Way has gone solo and will be at the O2 Academy on Friday night (7th Nov). Way released his debut solo album “Hesitant Alien” this year, which showcases a more mature and experimental style from his MCR days.

Coming from Cambridge, alt-rockers, Mallory Knox are appearing at Glasgow’s Garage for one night of madness this Monday (10th Nov). The five-piece’s released their sophomore album, “Asymmetry” in October which features the singles, “Ghost in The Mirror” and “Shout At The Moon”. Support comes from Frank Iero (ex My Chemical Romance guitarist who has also embarked on a solo project since the band split) Fort Hope and Moose Blood.

Scottish singer, Sandi Thom burst onto the mainstream scene in 2006 with smash-hit single, “I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair)” and now has five albums to her name. She will be at Oran Mor on Tuesday 11th November. Support for the show, “An Evening with Sandi Thom” will come from Elvira Stitt.

Australian pop princess, Kylie Minogue is taking to the stage at the SSE Hydro on 12th November. The tour comes in support of Ms Minogue’s latest album, “Kiss Me Once”, released in March

Announced This Week

American rockers, Crown The Empire have announced they will be returning to Scotland with a headline tour in 2015 with support coming from Set It Off and Dangerkids. The tour will follow the bands’ latest release “The Resistance: Rise Of The Runaways” and they will be at Glasgow’s Garage on 7th February.

Pop diva, Jessie J will also be touring the UK early next year, following the recent release of her third album “Sweet Talker”, which includes her collaboration with Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande“Bang Bang”. The singer has announced six dates so far, the first of which will be at Glasgow’s O2 Academy on 21st January 2015.

Indie rockers, Idlewild will be performing at the O2 ABC in Glasgow for not one, but two nights on the 7th and 8th of March next year. After reforming last year from a hiatus, the Scottish band announced the release of new album, “Everything Ever Written” from which their latest single, “Collect Yourself” is taken from.

Taking to the stage at The Queen Margaret Union on 27th March 2015 will be British singer/songwriter Charlie XCX, known for her collaborations with Icona Pop and Iggy Azalea. She released her third album, “Sucker” was released last month.

Country queen turned pop princess, Taylor Swift announced her plans to take her hugely successful LP, “1989” out on the road next year this week. Swift has proved she is a force to be reckoned with, thanks to the success of “1989”, released last week, which features her two finger salute to all “the haters”, smash-hit single, “Shake It Off”. She will be at The Hydro on 23rd June 2015.
