Glasgow Gigs This Week
80s synth-pop duo, Erasure will be LIVE at 02 ABC on Sauchiehall Street tomorrow night (Friday 21st November). The pair are expected to perform classic hits including, “A Little Respect”, “Sometimes” and “Stop” as well as material from their latest album, “The Violent Flame”, released in June of this year.
Lily Allen is brining her Sheezus Tour to the O2 Academy this Saturday (22nd November); the tour comes in support of the singer/songwriter’s third studio album of the same name, released earlier this year. This will be Allen’s first headline tour since 2010, although she supported wild child, Miley Cyrus on tour in the US earlier this year.
2014 marks 30 years since The Jesus & Mary Chain released “Psychocandy” and to celebrate, the band are playing TWO gigs at The Barrowlands this weekend (Friday 21st and Sunday 23rd November). The East Kilbride born band will be playing the album in full as well as material from their back catalogue, including “Darklands” and “Honey’s Dead”.
Coming all the way from Japan, metal-core band, Crossfaith will be blowing the roof off of The Garage on Sunday night. With a musical style which fuses together metal with an electronic twist, a unique show is to be expected!
Award-winning English folk/rock singer, Passenger will be at the O2 Academy on Tuesday (25th November) as part of his Whispers Tour. After his solo career began in 2009, the 30 year old has had a huge success, largely thanks to single, “Let Her Go”. Support is coming from Canadian trio, The Once.
Mancunian duo, The Tings Tings play King Tut’s this week (Wednesday 26th November). Known for their signature song, “That’s Not My Name”, the pair are out on the road in support of third album, “Super Critical”, released last month.
Mastodon will be at the O2 Academy this week (Wednesday 26th November). With an impressive six studio albums produced since the bands formation in 2000 (two of these which debuted within the Top Ten on The Billboard 200 Chart), the Atlanta four-piece definitely know how to rock!
Echo & The Bunnymen are scheduled to take to the stage at Glasgow’s O2 ABC next Thursday (27th November). The band from Liverpool, who formed over 30 years ago, have released many successful albums over the years, including “Porcupine” released in 1983, a self-titled album in 1987 and their latest offering “Meteorites” which came out earlier this year.
Announced This Week
On Wednesday, it was announced that old-school, shoe-gazers Ride have reformed following their break-up in 1996 and will be touring North America and Europe next year, including a gig at The Barrowlands on 22nd May 2015.
Following the release of latest album, “Sonic Highways”, rock icons, Foo Fighters will be embarking on a UK Tour next year, including a gig at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on 23rd June 2015. Over the 20 years since Grohl and Co formed the band they have become one of the most influential bands of our generation. With massive hits including, “Learn To Fly”, “All My Life”, “The Pretender” and “Everlong” as well as plenty of experience playing sold out shows, The Foo’s LIVE will be an unforgettable night!
X Factor success story, Olly Murs will be touring next year. The cheeky chappy from Essex came second to Joe McElderry in 2009 and has gone on to over 10 million albums worldwide and score 4 UK number one singles. Murs will be at The SSE Hydro on 14th and 15th April 2015.
Pop-newcomer, Ariana Grande announced plans to tour this week. Fresh from The MTV EMAs in Glasgow earlier this month, Grande will be at The SSE Hydro on 8th June 2015.
Liverpudlian band, The Wombats will be at The Barrowlands in Glasgow on Friday 17th April 2015, as part of their UK Tour. Formed in 2003, The Wombats have released three studio albums and are known for their indie-dancefloor friendly anthem, “Let’s Dance To Joy Division”.
