Brief Encounter, The GFT, Saturday 14th February @ 4.10pm

Originally released in 1945, Brief Encounter is a poignant, romantic drama about a chance meeting between Laura Jeeson (played by Celia Johnson) and Dr Alec Harvey (Trevor Howard)  at a railway station. The pair can’t deny their obvious attraction to one another, despite both being married, and soon embark on an emotional affair with unexpected consequences.

The Graduate, The GFT, Saturday 14th February (Times Vary)

The iconic and comedic 1960s cutting-edge classic which shot a young Dustin Hoffman to fame is being aired at The GFT this Valentine’s weekend. Backed by a stellar Simon & Garfunkel soundtrack, The Graduate sees recent college graduate, Benjamin (Hoffman) seduced by older woman, Mrs Robinson (played by a show-stealing, Anne Bancroft), only to then fall in love with her daughter, Elaine (Katharine Ross).
