Gigs This Week
Female-fronted, American rockers, Halestorm are due to explode onto the stage at The Barrowland on Friday (6th March 2015). The band consists of Lzzy Hale on vocals and guitar, her brother, Arejay on drums, bass player, Josh Smith and guitarist, Joe Hottinger. “Into The Wild Life” is the bands third studio album, which is due to be released next month and features the singles “Apocalyptic” and “Mayhem”.
Aussie pop duo, The Veronicas are live at Glasgow’s Garage this Friday (6th March 2015). Identical twins, Lisa and Jessica Origliasso are out on the road as part of their “Sanctified Tour”, which will see them play five UK dates. Last year, the pair released their third, self-titled LP, which includes the singles, “You Ruin Me” and “Cruel”.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will be at The SSE Hydro this weekend (Saturday 7th March 2015). Since Oasis’ split, Noel has carved out a highly successful solo career, releasing his debut LP in 2011. “Chasing Yesterday”, his sophomore offering, was released on Monday (3rd March 2015) and is on course for number one this weekend. Noel will be at HMV on Argyle Street on Saturday afternoon to meet fans and sign copies of his brand new LP.
Sunset Sons bonded over a love of music, snowboarding and surfing and are bringing their brand of sun-soaked, pop-rock anthems to Glasgow on Sunday (8th March 2015) when they play King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut. The gig coincides with the release of the band’s EP, “The Fall Line”, which features the single, “Medicine”.
LA-based, glam metal band, Steel Panther are scheduled to play Glasgow’s 02 Academy on Monday 9th March 2015. The band, know for their profane and humorous lyrics and exaggerated on-stage personae, are a parody of glam bands of the 1980s. The band released their fourth LP, “All You Can Eat” last year.
After a successful co-headline slot at The SSE Hydro with You Me At Six, All Time Low have announced plans to return to Scotland; the band play Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange on 25th August 2015. The band’s sixth studio album, “Future Hearts” is due to be released next month, featuring lead single, “Something’s Gotta Give” and forthcoming single, “Kids In The Dark”.
Bellahouston Park will be playing host to Dumfries DJ, Calvin Harris on 30th August 2015, as part of their Summer Sessions line-up. The gig is Harris’ first headline, outdoor Scottish show and support come in the form of pal, Ellie Goulding. Harris released his fourth LP, “Motion” last year, and forthcoming single, “Pray To God” (which features sister band, Haim) is out next week.
Fresh from her tumble at The Brits last week, Queen Of Pop, Madonna proved she is far from down and out when she announced her tour plans for later this year. Madge will be at The SSE Hydro on 20th December 2015, as part of her “Rebel Heart Tour”; the icon releases her 13th studio album of the same name tomorrow (6th March 2015).
Homegrown talent, Texas have unveiled plans to celebrate 25 years in the music industry with a string of UK dates this December. Sharleen Spitiri and Co will be at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on 18th December 2015. The band recently released, “Texas 25”, a greatest hits compilation of their 2 decade-strong back catalogue. Texas will also be at The Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow next month.
