Still Alice

Julianne Moore gives an Oscar-winning performance as Alice Howland, a 50 year old linguistics professor who discovers she has early onset Alzheimer’s disease, and, worse still, that her children have a 50% chance of inheriting it, too. With the support of her husband (played by Alec Baldwin), Alice struggles to hold on to her dignity and identity, but makes the bold decision to live for the moment, which includes reconnecting with her aspiring actress daughter, Lydia (Kristen Stewart). The silver screen treatment of Lisa Genova’s novel is a poignant and powerful tale about one of life’s cruellest diseases.

Unfinished Business

Vince Vaughn is Dan Trunkman, who after refusing to take a pay cut, decides to set up his own business with just two employees; “one who is too old” (Tom Wilkinson) and “one who is too young” (Dave Franco). After landing a lucrative deal in Germany, Trunkman soon discovers that he is competing against his ex-bosses (played by Sienna Miller and James Marsden) for an account which will make or break his new company. Nick Frost also stars in this hysterical comedy about pulling out all the unconventional stops in the name of winning.

Kill The Messenger

Jeremy Renner leads an all-star cast in this gripping, true-life drama about one of the most explosive news stories of the 1990s. Renner plays Gary Webb, a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist working for The San Jose Mercury News when he uncovers evidence that The CIA had involvement in the crack cocaine epidemic that started in the inner cities of America in the 1980s. Rosemarie DeWitt, Michael Sheen, Oliver Platt and Ray Liotta also star in this tense, thrilling drama.

Hyena

A gritty, powerful drama about police corruption on the streets of London, directed by Gerard Johnson. Plain clothes office, Michael (Peter Ferdinando) runs a task force designed to tackle the drug underbelly of the capital, but who is not opposed to striking deals with gangsters. However, Michael’s cosy set-up is put at great risk by the arrival of two violent Albanian brothers which sparks a turf war and launches an internal investigation which threatens to expose Michael’s illegal activities and, to complicate matters further, the corrupt copper falls for Ariana (Elisa Lasowski) who has been trafficked by the Albanians . . .

Chappie

Hugh JackmanSigourney Weaver and Dev Patel star in this sci-fi, action film from Neill Blomkamp, the director of “Elysium”. Set in the near future where a mechanised police force patrols the streets and upholds the law, only now the people are fighting back! When a stolen police android is re-programmed, he develops the ability to feel and think for himself, but when the authorities learn of Chappie and his “human abilities”, they see him as a threat and will stop at nothing to make sure he is the first and last of his kind . . .
