Gigs This Week

Black Rivers play King Tuts Wah Wah Hut on Thursday (14th May 2015). The band are two thirds of Cheshire-born band, Doves who split in 2010. Black Rivers formed in July 2014.

Leading Smiths tribute, The Smyths are set to hit up Glasgow’s O2 ABC on both Friday (15th) and Saturday (16th May 2015). The band are out to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Mancunian band’s sophomore 1985 album, “Meat Is Murder”.

Folk trio, Merrymouth kick off their UK Tour at King Tuts this Saturday (16th May 2015). The band, who feature Ocean Colour Scene’s Simon Fowler, Dan Sealey and Adam Barry. They released their debut album, “Simon Fowler’s Merrymouth” in March 2012, followed by their second LP, “Wenlock Hill” in May 2014

Dire Straits lead singer and guitarist, Mark Knopfler will be flying solo at The SSE Hydro on Tuesday (19th May 2015). Knopfler, who was born in Glasgow, formed Dire Straits in 1977 with younger brother, David. Since the band’s break-up in 1995, Knopfler has released nine solo albums; the most recent being, “Tracker”, released in March of this year.

Old-school pop group, S Club 7 are set to play to a sold-out SSE Hydro on Wednesday (20th May 2015). The band, who had a string of hits between 1999-2002, including “Bring It All Back”, “Don’t Stop Movin” and “Reach”, reformed in late 2014.

Just Announced

Following the success of last week’s Glasgow gig, Twenty One Pilots have announced that they will be returning to the city this November for a show at The O2 ABC. The musical duo, from Ohio, are embarking on their Blurryface Tour, which will follow the release of the album of the same name, due for release next week.

Tickets go on-sale on Friday 15th May 2015 at 9am.

The Darkness have unveiled plans to play Glasgow’s 02 Academy on 5th December 2015. The band originally formed in 2000 and are best known for their signature song, “I Believe In A Thing Called Love”, before splitting in 2006. 2015 brings a new line-up and album, “Last Of Our Kind”, which is scheduled for release on Monday 1st June 2015.

Tickets go on-sale on Friday 15th May 2015 at 9am.

State Champs will be crossing the Atlantic from New York City to rock out in King Tuts Wah Wah Hut on 21st September 2015. The pop punk five-piece released their debut LP in 2013 which features hit single,“Elevated”.
