Gigs This Week

Singer/songwriter, George Ezra is at Glasgow’s 02 Academy on Thursday (4th June 2015). Best known for his hit single, “Budapest”, Ezra released his debut album, “Wanted On Voyage” in June 2014.

Manchester-born, singer/songwriter, Shura is live at Nice ‘N’ Sleazy’s on Sauchiehall Street this Thursday (4th June 2015). Drawing influence from a wide range of artists including Haim, Peter Gabriel, Madonna, Pink Floyd and KT Tunstall, Shura’s debut album is scheduled for release later this year.

Hip hop royalty, Wu-Tang Clan are at Glasgow’s 02 Academy on Friday (5th June 2015). The band, from New York City, formed in 1992, have released six studio albums to date, the most recent being 2014’s “A Better Tomorrow”.

18 year old singer/songwriter, SOAK (aka Bridie Monds-Watson) is scheduled to play Glasgow’s Oran Mor this Saturday (6th June 2015). The singer, from Londonderry, Northern Ireland, released her debut LP, “Before We Forget How To Dream” this week.

Brighton-born six-piece, The Go! Team are at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut this Sunday (7th June 2015). The band formed in 2000 and released their fourth studio LP, “The Scene Between” in March.

American pop princess, Ariana Grande makes her debut at The SSE Hydro next Monday (8th June 2015) . The 21 year old collaborated with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj last summer on “Bang Bang”, one of 2014’s biggest hits. Grande released her second LP, “My Everything” in August 2014; it features her collaboration with rapper Iggy Azalea, “Problem”.

The Garage plays host to Young Guns next Tuesday (9th June 2015). The alt-rockers formed in 2009 and have released two studio albums to date; 2010’s “All Our Kings Are Dead” and “Bones”, released in February 2012. Their third LP, “Ones And Zeros” is out next week (Monday 8th June 2015).

Ash will be at Edinburgh’s Liquid Room on Tuesday (9th June 2015) The band from Downpatrick in Northern Ireland, formed in 1992 and released their sixth studio album, “Kablammo!” in May 2015, their first album since 2007’s “Twilight Of The Innocents”.

Tuesday (9th June 2015) will also see The Gaslight Anthem perform at The O2 Academy. The American band, who formed almost a decade ago, are out in support of their fifth LP, “Get Hurt”, released in August 2014.

Irish singer/songwriter, Damien Rice will be at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on Tuesday (9th June 2015). Best known for his signature song, “Cannonball” (later covered by X Factor’s Little Mix), Rice released his third LP, “My Favourite Faded Fantasy” in November 2014.

Old Oasis rivals, Blur are playing a hotly-anticipated stint at Glasgow’s Barrowlands as part of a very special three-date UK Tour next week (Tuesday 9th June 2015). The Britpop pioneers formed in 1988 and enjoyed massive chart success throughout the 1990s, largely thanks to signature tracks, “Parklife”, Charmless Man”, “Country House”, “Girls & Boys” and “There’s No Other Way”, before splitting in 2003. Recently reformed, Blur released, “The Magic Whip” in April; their eighth studio album and first since 2003’s “Think Tank”.

Just Announced 

Irish blues band, The Strypes have unveiled plans to play Glasgow’s Queen Margaret Union (QMU) on 27th September 2015. Formed in 2011, the band released their debut LP, “Snapshot” in September 2013. The band, from Cavan in Ireland, are scheduled to release second LP, “Little Victories” in July 2015.

 Tickets go on-sale on Friday (5th June 2015) at 9am.

Homegrown heroes, The Fratellis have announced a very special gig at Glasgow’s King Tut’s on Friday 21st August 2015; the gig coincides with the release of their fourth LP, “Eyes Wide, Tongue Tied”.

Tickets go on-sale on Thursday (4th June 2015) at 10am.

Norwegian 80s synth-pop band, A-ha have announced plans to tour next year, including a date at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on 28th March 2016. The band, formed in 1982, are best known for their signature hit, “Take On Me” and accompanying comic-strip video. A-ha are due to release their 10th studio album, “Cast In Steel” in September 2015.
