Gigs This Week
Irish singer/songwriter, Damien Rice plays a very special show at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut tonight (Wednesday 10th June 2015). Rice is best known for signature song, “Cannonball” and released his third LP, “My Favourite Faded Fantasy” in October 2014. Tickets are £25 and are available on the door on a first come, first served basis.
Motherwell-born band, The LaFontaines are at Edinburgh’s Liquid Rooms on Thursday (11th June 2015) as part of their mini-Scottish tour which also takes in Dumfries and Aberdeen. The band released their debut LP, “Class” this week.
Punk rocker, Billy Idol is at Glasgow’s 02 Academy on Saturday (13th June 2015). Known for his 80s hits, “White Wedding”, “Rebel Yell” and “Mony Mony”, Idol released his seventh LP, “Kings & Queens Of The Underground” in 2014. Support comes from homegrown talent, Vigo Thieves.
Irish bluesy band, The Strypes are at Edinburgh’s Caves on Sunday (14th) and Monday (15th June 2015). The band, from Cavan, Ireland, released their debut LP, “Snapshot” in September 2013. Second LP, “Little Victories” in due to drop in July, with lead single, “Get Into It” available now.
Franz Ferdinand and Sparks have teamed up to form FFS and are live at Glasgow’s Art School on Tuesday (16th June 2015). The supergroup dropped debut album, “Piss Off” this week.
Legendary rock band, Fleetwood Mac are at The SSE Hydro on Tuesday (16th) and Wednesday (17th June 2015) as part of their current World Tour. The band, who formed in London in 1967, are scheduled to headline The Isle Of Wight Festival this weekend. The band released, “Say You Will”, their 17th studio album in 2003.
Florence + The Machine have unveiled plans to play The SSE Hydro on Monday 14th September 2015. The announcement comes as Florence Welch scored her third number one UK album last weekend with, “How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful”.
