Gigs This Week
Couldn’t afford the incredibly expensive trip to Glastonbury last weekend? Never mind! For those of you who were gutted to have missed out on Sunday night headliners, The Who (and very special guest, Paul Wellar), Glasgow’s 02 ABC is the place to be tonight! (Friday 3rd July 2015). The next best thing, tribute, Who2 are live performing all the hits from the legendary rock band, including, “My Generation”, “Pinball Wizard”, “Baba O’Reilly” and many, many more! Plus! The Underground Jam are supporting, tribute to the punk band fronted by Wellar and famous for hits, “A Town Called Malice” and “Going Underground”.
Remember Gabriella Climi? She was responsible for the saccharine-soaked 2008 hit, “Sweet About Me”. Well, now the Aussie-born singer has paired up with her brother, Joseph to form duo, All Kings And Queens. The sibling set-up are live at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut this Saturday (4th July 2015) as part of their current UK Tour.
NYC indie-rockers, Bleachers are live at Glasgow’s Garage this Sunday (5th July 2015). The band formed in 2014 and includes Fun’s lead guitarist, Jack Antonoff. By their own admission, the band are heavily influenced by 80s pop music and John Hughes films of that era. Bleachers released their debut single, “I Wanna Get Better” last February.
Legendary crooner, Neil Diamond is set to take The SSE Hydro by storm next Tuesday (7th July 2015). The 74 year old singer/songwriter will undoubtedly delight fans with classic, “Sweet Caroline”, “Forever In Blue Jeans” and “Song Sung Blue”. Diamond has sold over 125 million albums worldwide throughout his career and released his 32nd (Wow!) studio album, “Melody Road” in October 2014.
Next Tuesday (7th July 2015) will also see fellow Americans, Alkaline Trio perform in Glasgow at The O2 ABC. The alt-rock trio formed in 1996 and released, “My Shame Is True”, their eight studio LP in 2013.
Boyce Avenue will be hitting up The O2 ABC on 14th October 2015. The American rock band, which consists of three brothers from Florida, are known for their acoustic rock roots and released their second, and latest LP, “All We Have Left” in 2010.
London based-band, Spector will be coming to King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut on 21st October 2015. The tour announcement coincides with the release of their new album, “Moth Boys” which is out on 21st August 2015 and features the singles, “Bad Boyfriend” and “All The Sad Young Men”.
Oh Wonder will play King Tut’s on 21st November 2015. The song-writing duo plan to release a song a month for a year, with their debut album scheduled for release on 4th September 2015. This months single, “Landslide” is available now.
