The Pavilion played host to Glesga’s answer to the housewives of Orange County, Beverly Hills and New York for a second stellar run this year! They may have swapped Champagne for Buckie and Prada for Primark, but these lassies certainly didn’t cut corners when it came to providing the laughs on the final night on Saturday.
Life beyond “karaoke night” at The Come-in-thian and the edge of the seat drama of trashy TV, “The Real Housewives Of Hollywood Hills” is run-of-the-mill for these Glesga wummin; celebrity-obsessed Kylie’s biggest dilemma is choosing the right shade of fake bake, Debbie has trouble keeping a man, but has no problem sinking a few too many, hopeless romantic, Michelle is mad about “my Marcus” who is a dead ringer for David Hasselhoff, Donnamarie struggles to find a diet that helps her lose weight, but allows her to indulge her weakness for Greggs’ legendary steak bakes and Bearsden-born and token “posh burd”, Barbara is torn between getting new car-seat covers for the porshe or having some VERY personal surgery done as an anniversary pressie for rich hubby, Graham.
When an American TV producer and real-life Hollywood Hills housewife comes to Glasgow looking for Real Life Glesga Hoosewives, it doesn’t take much persuasion for our feisty five to sign on the dotted line. However, it doesn’t take long for petty rivalry and saucy secrets to threaten the very foundation of their friendship; a knicker-stealing boyfriend, a secret tryst, “I just fell oan it!”, the boredom of sobriety and a vagina tightening, LIVE on TV against a disco-drenched backdrop,“I’m So Excited”, “I Will Survive” and, “Stand By Your Man” (complete with steamin’-inspired swaying from the crowd).
Written by Stuart Thomas, “The Real Hoosewives Fae Glesga” is a laugh-out-loud, all-singing, all-twerking comedy that impressively captures what makes Glesga wummin special; razor-sharp banter, the quick wit needed to sneak a hauf bottle by the bouncers, the guts to brave scary new realms of fake tan and an unshaken loyalty to yer pals . . . I mean, who else can you count oan to haud yer hair back when ye need to whitey?
* The Real Hoosewives Fae Glesga are back in “Wee Fat Glesga Wedding” from Wednesday 7th to Saturday 17th October 2015 at The Pavilion. Tickets are available now.
