Gigs This Week

Singer/songwriter, James Bay is at Glasgow’s 02 Academy on Thursday (24th September 2015) as part of his current UK Tour. Bay released his debut offering, “Chaos And The Calm” in March 2015, which features his signature song, “Hold Back The River” and singles, “Scars” and “Let It Go”.

Former New Order bassist, Peter Hook will be at The Art School in Glasgow on Thursday (24th September 2015) playing both “Low-Life” and “Brotherhood” in full under Peter Hook & The Light, a band he formed in May 2010. Hooky was the bassist first for Joy Division until Ian Curtis’ suicide disbanded the group in 1980 and later, New Order up until he quit in 2007.

Worchester-born, indie band Peace are at Glasgow’s QMU on Saturday (26th September 2015). The band, who formed in 2009 and released their second LP, “Happy People” in February of this year, it followed their 2013 debut album, “In Love”.

Gabrielle Aplin is scheduled to play at Glasgow’s Oran Mor on Sunday 27th September 2015. Aplin first came to attention online largely due to her acoustic covers of Paramore and You Me At Six tracks on YouTube; she went on to release her debut LP, “English Rain” in 2013. “Light Up The Dark” is the follow-up LP and was released this week.

Fresh from the release of second studio album, “Little Victories” last month, The Strypes are scheduled to play a gig at Glasgow’s QMU on Sunday 27th September 2015. The band, from Cavan in Ireland, formed in 2011 and released their debut LP, “Snapshot” in September 2013.

Brit-born rock band, Mallory Knox are at Glasgow’s 02 ABC on Monday 28th September 2015. The band, who formed in 2009, released their second LP, “Asymmetry” in October 2014.

Welsh rock band, Pretty Vicious are scheduled to play at Glasgow’s King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut on Monday 28th September 2015. The band, from Merthyr Tydfil in Wales, formed in March 2014. Pretty Vicious were announced this week as part of Radio X Road Trip line-up for a gig at Manchester’s 02 Apollo in December alongside Noel Gallagher, Johnny Marr and Neon Waltz.

Just Announced

Fresh from releasing their long-awaited third LP, “Anthems For Doomed Youth” earlier this month, The Libertines have announced plans for a UK Arena Tour in January 2016, including a date at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on the 21st.

Electro-pop princess, Ellie Goulding has announced plans to tour The UK in early 2016. Goulding is set to release her third studio album, “Delirium” in November 2015 and will be at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on Friday 18th March 2016.

Home-grown hero, Gerry Cinnamon has announced a gig at Glasgow’s Oran Mor on Friday 4th December 2015. Still reeling from a stellar set at this years T In The Park, Cinammon, from Castlemilk in Glasgow, is out on tour next month with a string of Scottish dates in Kilmarnock, Greenock, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Dundee.
