Legendary “Madchester” band, The Stone Roses have been unveiled as the first headliner of T In The Park 2016, to be held for the second consecutive year at Strathallan Castle in Perthshire, Scotland next summer.

Speculation among fans reached fever pitch yesterday morning when posters of the band’s iconic lemon logo appeared all over their home-town; amid rumours and new material eventually came the announcement that The Stone Roses would headline Friday 8th July 2016 at T In The Park AND play TWO dates at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium on 17th and 18th June 2016.

Originally formed in 1983, The Stone Roses became one of the most prominent bands of The “Madchester” Movement of the late 80s/early 90s, largely due to their self-titled, debut LP released in 1989 and spawned signature songs, “Fool’s Gold”, “Waterfall”, “I Wanna Be Adored” and “I Am The Resurrection”. “Second Coming”, their sophomore LP, followed in December 1994 before the band dissolved in October 1997.

Since reforming in 2011, The Stone Roses, fronted by Ian Brown, have played sold-out gigs at Heaton Park, Phoenix Park in Dublin and Glasgow Green and featured in Shane Meadow’s hit documentary charting their return to the limelight, “The Stone Roses : Made Of Stone”; the docu-film made its World Premiere at Manchester’s Trafford Park in May 2013.

Tickets For The Stone Roses at Etihad Stadium AND T In The Park 2016 go on-sale on Friday 6th November 2015 @ 9.30am
