Channel 5 have confirmed that they will be bringing the brand NEW series of “The X Files” to UK screens on Monday 8th February 2016 at 9pm.
The 6 episode event sees David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their iconic roles as FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully for the first time in 8 years. Original cast members, Mitch Pileggi, Annabeth Gish, William B. Davis and “Lone Gunmen” Bruce Harwood, Tom Braidwood and Dean Haglund are also on-board for the reboot, as well as new recruits Joel McHale, Lauren Ambrose and Robbie Amell. The series premiered in The US last weekend.
“The X Files” began in 1993 and ran for nine seasons before concluding in 2002; the franchise also spawned two feature films, 1998’s “Fight The Future” and 2008’s “I Want To Believe”, which co-starred Scottish comedian, Billy Connolly. The series charted Mulder and Scully’s search for “the truth” amid plots of alien abduction and government conspiracy, with a monster or two along the way.
Since the end of “The X Files”, Duchovny starred as Hank Moody in the hit TV series, “Californication”, which ended last year and, more recently, as Detective Sam Hodiak in “Aquarius”, set in 1960s Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Anderson starred opposite Christian Grey himself, Jamie Dornan as DSI Stella Gibson in BBC’s “The Fall”, as well as Miss Havisham in “Great Expectations” in 2011 and as Dr Bedelia Du Maurier in “Hannibal”.
Mulder and Scully are back on Channel 5 on Monday 8th February 2016 at 9pm.
The truth is STILL out there . . .
