Gigs This Week

Californian rockers, Eagles of Death Metal are scheduled to play Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom tonight (Thursday 25th August 2016). The band, who formed in 1998, released their fourth studio offering, “Zipper Down” last year; it features a few remastered tracks from their debut LP, “Honkey Kong” as well as a Duran Duran cover.

Glasgow Summer Sessions will be returning to Bellahouston Park this weekend for shows on both Friday (26th) and Saturday (27th August 2016). Friday’s headliner is Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds along with special guest, Richard Ashcroft as well as additional support from Frightened Rabbit and Circa Waves. Since splitting with brother Liam and disbanding Oasis in 2010, Noel has released two solo LPs to date, the most recent being 2015’s “Chasing Yesterday”.

Glasgow’s Oran Mor play host to Blazin’ Fiddles on Friday (26th August 2016), a contemporary Scottish fiddle band from The Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Since forming in 1998, they have release seven studio LPs to date independently via their own record label and scooped numerous awards, most recently, “Folk Band Of The Year 2013/14”.

Psychedelic electronic band, Silver Apples are at Glasgow’s Hug & Pint on Friday (26th August 2016). The band, from New York, initially formed in 1967 and have released five studio albums to date, the most recent being 1998’s “Decatur”.

King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut play host to Scottish alt-rock trio, Twin Heart on Friday (26th August 2016). The band, from Kilmarnock, formed in 2014 and released their EP, “Progress : Decline” last month.

Saturday will see Scotland’s very own, Biffy Clyro claim the stage with special guests Fall Out Boy, Wolf Alice and Cage the Elephant. The trio released their latest album “Ellipsis” earlier this year with both lead single “Wolves of Winter” and second single, “Animal Style” sampling the heavier rock side the record has to offer. Fall Out Boy’s latest record “American Beauty/American Psycho” was released last year and features the hugely successful single, “Centuries” as well as title track and “Irresistible”.

After a string of shows in Edinburgh last week, DJ Tom Loud is bringing his famous Hot Dub Time Machine party to the O2 ABC in Glasgow on Saturday (27th August 2016). Since starting the club night in 2011, it has been a huge success with party-goers across the globe.

Glasgow’s King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut plays host to The Ronains on Saturday (27th August 2016). The band, from Glasgow, are fast becoming known for their blend of classic rock, glam and grunge.

Homegrown band, The Fast Camels celebrate the launch of new album, “Tales Of The Unexpected” on Saturday (27th August 2016) at Glasgow 02 ABC. The band, from Rutherglen, formed in 2005 and have gained a strong live following thanks to their explosive blend of 60s-inspired psychedelia and power pop.

Japanese electronicore band, Crossfaith are scheduled to appear at Edinburgh’s Studio 24 this Monday (29th August 2016). Since forming in 2006, the band, from Osaka in Japan, have released four studio LPs to date, the most recent being 2015’s “Xeno”.

Homegrown heroes, The Jesus & Mary Chain are giving Scottish fans a double dose of their “Greatest Hits” when they play Glasgow’s 02 ABC on Tuesday (30th) and Wednesday (31st August 2016). The band, who consist of brothers Jim and William Reid, formed in East Kilbride in 1983. The band are currently recording their first studio LP since 1998.

Just Announced

Bullet For My Valentine will be touring this Winter, with support from Killswitch Engage and Cane Hill, including dates at Glasgow’s O2 Academy on 30th November 2016 and The Ironworks in Inverness on 1st December 2016. The Welsh heavy metal band released their fifth studio album, “Venom” last year and the tour will see them play their 2005 debut album “The Poison” in full.

You Me At Six have announced a UK Tour for October, which will see the band play at Inverness’ The Ironworks on the 17th. with support from fellow rockers, Vant. Along with the tour announcement, the Surrey-based band unveiled that their next LP will be titled, “Night People” and is due for release on Friday 13th January 2017.

State Champs will be crossing the pond next March to play a show at Glasgow’s Garage on the 14th. The New Yorkers released their second studio LP, “Around the World And Back” last year, which includes the singles, “Secrets”, “All You Are Is History” and “Losing Myself”.
