Good Charlotte took to the stage in Glasgow’s O2 Academy last Wednesday with their “Youth Authority Tour” bringing a mixed bag of both new and old tracks that kept fans happy.
The night kicked off with “The Anthem” which saw the band jump out onto stage with the Madden twins dressed almost identically in sleeveless vests and baseball caps. A few songs into the set “Girls & Boys” was aired which whipped the crowd into a frenzy before playing “Riot Girl”.
In between tracks, frontman Benji announced that this year marked the bands 20th Anniversary, but despite being around for two decades, the five men on stage were as full of energy as teenagers just starting out would be. The set also featured, “Life Changes”, “The Chronicles of Life And Death” and “The Motivation Proclamation”. Benji’s favorite song from the Good Charlotte’s latest LP, “The Outfield” was played along with “Youth Authority’s” lead single, “Makeshift Love”, while Benji dedicated,“Life Can’t Get Much Better” to wife, Cameron Diaz which generated a chorus of “Awww’s” from the crowd.
A flashback to older tracks, “Little Things”, “The Young And The Hopeless” and “The River” pleased the punters before the headline act briefly left the stage prompting the traditional Glasgow gig chant of “One more tune!” Granting their fan’s wishes, the Americans began their encore with “Dance Floor Anthem” and were joined by Mikey Way of My Chemical Romance, before “I Just Wanna Live” while conclusion,“Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous” closed the show on a high.
