Having relocated to the northwest Baltimore neighborhood Mount Washington, I've had the pleasure of discovering some new treasures to add to my chest.

One being the humble lilac facade of Newbury & Smith, an upscale consignment boutique that is anything but the norm for consignment in Baltimore. Just recently the boutique celebrated its five-year anniversary under ownership of the vibrant Karen Feldman who came into ownership after a devastating flood literally engulfed the shop. Karen says that she used to come to the original Newbury & Smith in her downtime to consign and shop, often exclaiming, “I want to own this store.”

When I tell people that I've moved to Mt. Washington most say, "oh, I don't get up there much," a sentiment that I at one time shared, but has now changed. I love the quaint neighborhood (even if they shut down my dinner gatherings because of all the laughter!) and Newbury and Smith has added to my appreciation. Newbury is not your typical consignment shop as they only accept garments of superior quality and design. The shop's sleeper hit is the accessory assortment; I spotted a Balenciaga Downtown bag, a YSL Tribute tote, and an interesting jewelry assortment that houses pieces sourced from local talents and shops. On top of the accessories lays tons of great consigned fashions and there were more fur coats than I could count. I especially loved one Moschino cropped jacket that sported painted on details; epic.

Compounded with designer goods, you would expect for a pompous staff to accompany the chic fashions. But instead you are graciously welcomed by the kind smiles and assistance of Joyce and Shirley, Newbury staff for over 20 years collectively. Newbury & Smith is located right across from the Mount Washington MTA lightrail station and opens its doors for quality service 7 days a week. I will be stalking its wares religiously and I implore for you to do the same.
