New fashun writer Devin Morris, whose new column Grave Digger will begin after the holidays, donned a flashy D&G pith helmet to uncovered the Mystery of the Pop-Up Store!

This city is a city that has a pulse, not a beat, shimmers but doesn’t shine, grooves but doesn’t dance. Charm is not ostentatious and neither is Baltimore. So as to find the fashions, people, art, and culture in this distinct environment one must be willing to dig a bit. I’m here to do just that. I will excavate Baltimore’s charmingly dead art and fashion scenes to find mind-bending culture that will help to enliven Baltimore’s pulse. Call me the Grave Digger.

This past Thursday I went to check out the collective efforts of Di[e]ce Boutique, Double Dutch, Dress Code by Gita, Patrick Sutton Home and Interior Design, and Shine Collective’s pop up shop now open in Baltimore’s latest Mecca, Harbor East. Nestled among the Landmark Theatres, The Oceanaire Restaurant, and other enticing attractions, the boutiques’ glass façade will be sure to lure you in. Located in the new Legg Mason Development next to the also new Four Seasons Hotel building, the space offers cavernous loft feeling, boasting white walls and gray concrete floors.

Inside the Pop Up space each boutique has designated areas who’s design lends itself to each boutiques’ aesthetic, essentially creating shop in shops with each area giving you the feel of the actual boutique. I am happy to see such a movement of good culture and design heralding from all over Baltimore and being displayed in one of Baltimore’s hippest areas. Check out what I found in my dig.
