Ta Ta To The View (For Now)

Dundee’s hometown heroes, The View announced a string of very special shows for November 2017 as their way of saying, “Ta Ta For Now” with no further live dates scheduled until 2019.

The band, who formed in 2005 and are fronted by Kyle Falconer, released their debut LP. “Hats Off To The Buskers” in 2007 and toured the album earlier this year to mark a decade since its release. “Which Bitch?” followed in 2009 and included a collaboration with fellow Scot, Paolo Nutini2011 saw the release of “Bread & Circuses”, “Cheeky For A Reason” followed in 2012 and their latest LP, “Ropewalk” was dropped in 2015. The band marked their greatest hits with “Seven Year Setlist”, a compilation album which was released in June 2o13.

As The View bid “Ta Ta For Now”, Gutter HQ has a throwback to their 5 Greatest Musical Moments . . .

5. “How Long?”

The lead single from their fourth LP,“Cheeky For A Reason” was released in July 2012; the accompanying video featured Scottish actor and close pal of the band, Martin Compston. An infectious, frantic little number saw a return to form for the Dundee-born band and was reportedly inspired by Falconer’s then-girlfriend, Scottish singer, Carly Connor.

4. Face For The Radio

This entirely acoustic track showed a softer side to the somewhat rebellious, riotous band and was released in June 2007; the fifth single to be taken from their debut LP, “Hats Off To The Buskers”. While the single wasn’t a charting success, it has remained a firm favourite among the band’s legion of fans.

3. Grace

The second single taken from 2011’s “Bread & Circuses” failed to chart in The UK but was an upbeat, edgy number which featured Martin Compston in the accompanying video. The track was inspired by guitarist, Pete Reilly’s downstairs neighbours and their noise complaints against him.

2. Shock Horror

February 2009 saw The View release, “Shock Horror”, the second single from their LP, “Which Bitch?” The slow-building single became an instant live favourite and is still a rousing part of their setlist to date.

1. Same Jeans

Taken from their debut LP, “Hats Off To The Buskers”, third single, “Same Jeans” is the band’s undisputed signature song relaying the experience of partying for days in end in the same clothes. The single is the band’s most successful single of their career.

David Gilmour Live At Pompeii

Wednesday 13th September 2017 @ 8.30pm (Cineworld & The GFT)

45 years after Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour filmed “Live At Pompeii” in the legendary Roman Amphitheatre Theatre, he returned for two spectacular shows, part of his year-long tour in support of his No.1 album, “Rattle That Lock”. The performances were the first-ever rock concerts for an audience in the stone Roman amphitheatre, and, for two nights only, the 2,600 strong crowd stood exactly where gladiators would have fought in the first century AD. “David Gilmour Live At Pompeii” shows an artist at the top of his artistic game, performing incredible material with his world-class band, in a unique setting, on one very special occasion. Songs include the title tracks of his two most recent No. 1 solo albums, “Rattle That Lock” and “On An Island”, as well as other solo and Pink Floyd classics, including, “Wish You Were Here” and “Comfortably Numb”.
