If you missed Iceage the first time around, now’s your chance to redeem yourself.

Iceage is returning to the Golden West Cafe after their explosive performance in June, paired up with a set of killer acts that make this another show not to miss out on.

I reviewed that June show here on Gutter, and all pompous rock writer bullshit aside, it was really fucking good. They’re a band that oozes raw intensity onstage, with an immense, noisy post-punk sound that threatens to put them right up there with groups like Wire and the Pop Group—all while somehow sneaking in a set of delicious riffs behind the chaos.

The energy in the crowd that night matched the band blow for blow, and I went home with some tasty injuries to prove it. Easily one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time.

I know I’m in danger of letting my wretched, festering inner-Christgau out with this one, but I can’t help but think this is a band I’ll be bragging about having seen live for years to come. I’ll be an old asshole one day, sitting high on my worn-out living room sofa, grey-haired, braindead and five beers deep into my afternoon, lecturing my wannabe punk asshole nephews in their Crass t-shirts about how I saw one of the last few bands that still had a bit of foul, abusive punk energy running through their greasy veins.

But that’s neither here nor there. Supporting Iceage this time around are dark punks Lost Tribe, and Goth act Sprayer (feat. ex-members of Ponytail and Cex). Tickets $8. Doors 9. Get there.
