Thousands of fans were left bitterly disappointed by Pete Doherty last night after the former Libertine cancelled his gig at Glasgow’s 02 ABC at the last minute.

Doherty, 33 was due to play the intimate venue in Sauchiehall Street in his first gig appearance since being thrown out of a rehab facility in Thailand in July.

Glasgow 02 ABC announced the cancellation on Twitter around 7pm last night, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Peter Doherty gig has been cancelled. Refunds will be available from point of purchase from 11am tomorrow”. Fans of the Babyshambles frontman flocked to his official Facebook page to express their disappointment.

Doherty cancelled a gig at Glasgow Barrowlands last may in similar impromptu circumstances after he was jailed for six months for cocaine possession on the morning of the scheduled gig.

Glasgow 02 ABC said they were hoping to reschedule the gig for an alternative date in the near future.

Doherty is scheduled to play The Ironworks in Inverness tonight and Paris on Friday.
