Deap Vally have announced the release of new single “Lies” and a UK tour in support of the single. The female duo, Lindsey Troy (Vocals, Guitar) and Julie Edwards (Drums, Vocals), hail from LA. They most recently played shows in the UK last year in support for both The Vaccines and Muse.

Their sound is deeply steeped in blues influence in the most fundamental form and the two ladies have been causing quite a commotion when playing live. They add a modern, rock twist to traditional blues, but stick within the parameters of beats, melodies and meaningful lyrics. Given their sound, it’s surprising to learn that they met only last year at a needlework class, of all places, where they bonded over a love of blues. Deap Vally started playing live, gaining them much-deserved attention. They eventually signed to Island/Communion, who will release their debut LP this year.

‘Lies’ will be released as 7” single and download and has been produced by Lars Stelfors, known for his work with the recently defunct, The Mars Volta.

The upcoming UK tour includes a headline show at London Dingwalls the week of the single release and an NME Awards show at Brixton Academy with The Cribs and And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead.

If you want to hear more, you can catch Deap Vally on tour on the following dates throughout February and March including Rainbow in Birmingham (24th February), The Empire in Middlesborough (2nd March), Glasgow King Tut’s (4th) and The Shipping Forecast in Liverpool (7th).
