Having only opened in September, Glasgow’s The Hydro is already proving it’s worth among gig revellers; in 3 short months, the venue has already played host to Rod Stewart, Fleetwood Mac, Simple Minds and The Proclaimers, among others.

It seems the stellar line-up is in no danger of slowing down in 2014 with the announcement earlier today that Beyonce will be bringing her “Mrs Carter Tour” to Glasgow in February. Announced in February 2013, during her Superbowl half-time show, “The Mrs Carter World Tour” is a reference to the singer’s marriage to rapper, Jay Z (real name Shawn Carter) and has already taken in shows across the globe including dates in France, Croatia, Norway, England, Belgium, Australia, North America, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand.

Beyonce’s 2014 arena dates include Dublin, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Belgium and Spain, in addition to Glasgow’s SSE Hydro.

The tour is expected to coincide with the release of Beyonce’s fifth solo album which was initially expected to be released this year.

The “Queen Bey” looks set to continue her glittering reign; since launching her career as solo artist in 2003 after fronting Destiny’s Child alongisde Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, Beyonce has become one of the most prominent, inspiring and influential female perfomers of our generation, including a headline slot at Glastonbury in 2011 and a stunning set at Superbowl half-time show in February this year.

Tickets for “The Mrs Carter European Tour” go onsale on Monday 16th December 2013 at 10am.
