Meet The Apparells, your new favourite band. Drawing inspiration from The Who and soon to be rocking a venue near you, we spoke exclusively to bass guitarist, Stephen Lynch about line-up changes, their debut album and taking on America . . .

Who Are The Apparells?

The Apparells are Lee Cuthbertson (guitar/vocals), Stevie Lynch (guitars), Jason Murray (drums) and Stephen McCartney (bass guitar). An indie-rock, 4 piece formed in Glasgow in late 2011.

How did the band initially come together?

It’s a long story! The band initially started out with old friends Lee Cuthbertson and Paddy McBrearty (guitar). Paddy then recruited Jason and Smeato (bass) from a previous band. Smeato left shortly after and Jason invited school friend, Stephen McCartney to join. Stephen then asked Stevie Lynch to play keyboards, but he soon switched to guitar when Paddy left due to other commitments. We now have a settled line-up and are feeling confident for 2015.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard it?

I’d say our latest EP is a cross between The Who at their rockiest, with a mainstream hint of The Black Keys. Although, our sound is constantly progressing as different influences take centre stage.

Describe an Apparells live set in three words?

Passionate. Loud. Entertaining!

What are your ambitions for 2015?

We have a batch of songs almost complete and hope to release our debut album later in the year. We have T Fest to look forward to in July and we have been invited over to Philadelphia to play some shows in October, really looking forward to it!

The Apparells “Matter Of Taste” EP is available now.

Catch them live at “March Of The Mods” at Glasgow’s 02 ABC on Saturday 14th March 2015.
