Gigs This Week

The SSE Hydro plays host to an array of reality TV “talent” this weekend when The X Factor 2015 Tour rolls into town. The line-up includes winner, Ben Haenow, Fleur East, controversial contestant, Stevi Ritchie, Stereo Kicks, Jay James, Lauren Platt, Only The Young and Andrea Faustini. The tour will be live on Friday (27th February) and a Saturday matinee (28th February 2015).

Manchester’s Blossoms will be in Glasgow this week as part of King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut’s birthday celebrations. The five-piece will be bringing their spin of psychedelic rock to the venue who celebrate their 25th Birthday this month on Friday (27th February 2015). Support comes from Vagabonds Poets and Daniel Paris.

Placebo are scheduled to play Glasgow’s 02 Academy on Sunday (1st March 2015) as part of their current tour. The London-based band, who formed in 1994, are out on the road in support of the most recent, seventh LP, “Loud Like Love”, which was released in 2013.

Brighton-born, indie rock band, The Kooks are live at Glasgow’s 02 Academy this week, too; the quartet will be performing at the venue on Monday 2nd March 2015. The band have enjoyed a run of rejuvenated success following the release of fourth studio album, “Listen”, released last September.

King Tut’s plays host to Little Comets on Monday (2nd March 2015). The band formed in 2008, and released latest album, “Hope Is Just A State Of Mind” earlier this month. It follows their 2011 debut, “In Search Of Little Elusive Comets” and 2012’s “Life Is Elsewhere”. Support comes from Model Aeroplanes and Ross Mitchell.

Home-grown talent, Neon Waltz will be playing live at Nice N Sleazy’s¬†next week (Wednesday 4th March 2015) as part of their current UK tour. The band, from Caithness, formed in 2013 and have already generated quite a following and fans in the form of radio DJ, Jim Gellatly and The Scottish Sun’s Editor, Gordon Smart.

Just Announced

Old-school, indie band, Shed Seven unveiled plans to tour in Winter 2015. The band, who formed in 1990, were one of the prominent players of the Britpop scene, and have released four LPs since, the most recent being 2001’s “Truth Be Told”. Shed Seven will be supported by very special guests, Inspiral Carpets, who released their self-titled LP last year; it was the band’s first studio release in 20 years¬†and toured late last year. Shed Seven and Inspiral Carpets will be at Glasgow’s 02 Academy on Friday 4th December 2015.

Irish singer/songwriter, Damien Rice will be out on tour this summer; he will be live at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on Tuesday 9th June 2015. Rice released his third studio album, “My Favourite Faded Fantasy” in November 2014.
