Gigs This Week

Glasgow’s own, Texas are celebrating 25 years in the music industry this year and are playing a very special slot at King Tut’s on Thursday (16th April 2015) to coincide with this incredible achievement. Sharleen Spitiri and Co will also be at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall later this month. 

Liverpudlian trio, The Wombats will be live at The Barrowland this weekend (Friday 17th April 2015). The band, who formed in 2003, released their fourth studio LP, “Glitterbug” this week; it features the singles, “Your Body Is A Weapon”, “Greek Tragedy” and “Give Me A Try”.

The 02 ABC are preparing for a 90s throwback this weekend when boyband, Five play this Saturday (18th April 2015). The band enjoyed a string of hit single in the late 90s/early 00s including, “Keep On Movin'”, “Slam Dunk (Da Funk)” and a cover of Queen’s legendary anthem, “We Will Rock You” before splitting in 2001. The band reformed as part of 2012’s Big Reunion TV show (minus J Brown), however, Abz Love quit last year. Original members Scott Robinson, Ritchie Neville and Sean Conlon will be live in Glasgow.

The Grandaddy of American blues, Seasick Steve will be at The Barrowland this weekend (Saturday 18th April 2015). The 74 year old musician is out in support of his latest album, “Sonic Soul Surfer”, his seventh LP in just over 10 years; it includes the singles, “Summertime Boy” and “Bring It On”.

Despite coming third in the tenth season of The X Factor in 2013, Luke Friend has a record deal and strong fanbase (which is more than winner, Sam Bailey can say). Remembered for his dreaded hair and husky style, Friend will be at King Tut’s on Tuesday 21st April 2015 in support of his forthcoming album due for release later this year.

Just Announced

American indie rockers, Death Cab For Cutie have unveiled tour plans for late 2015, including a date at Glasgow’s 02 Academy on Monday 2nd November 2015. The band released their eighth studio album, “Kintsugi” in March of this year.

Manchester-based band, Everything Everything announced a new album and tour plans this week; third LP, “Get To Heaven” will be released in June 2015 and the band will be out on the road in late 2015, including a date at 02 ABC on Thursday 12th November 2015.

Tickets are on sale on Friday 17th April 2015 @ 9am.
