Keep your iPods! Save your Spotify! This weekend is all about LPs! Record Store Day 2015 is this Saturday (18th April 2015) and Gutter HQ has the lowdown on where you can celebrate the art of vinyl and the long-running reign of independent record stores across the world.

Monorail Music (King Street, Glasgow)

One of Glasgow’s best music hubs is hosting a very special Record Store Day celebration this weekend. The venue will have hundreds of exclusive, limited vinyl for sale (that’s what it’s all about, after all) as well as homebaking, activities for the little ones and live music from Rose McDowall, Pennycress and Halfrican, among others and DJ sets from Roxanne Clifford (Veronica Falls) and JD Twitch (Optimo). This event is completely FREE and kicks off on Saturday 18th April 2015 at 9am.

The Glasgow Film Theatre (Rose Street, Glasgow)

Empire Records, Friday 17th April @ 11pm

“Empire Records, open till Midnight!” Is there a better place to work than here? The GFT are airing this 90s nostalgia trip this weekend in celebration of Record Store Day 2015. This cult classic starring Liv Tyler and Renee Zellweger follows a group of record store employees on a particularly stressful day at work . . . Rex Manning Day!

The Record Factory (Byres Road, Glasgow)

The newest addition to Glasgow’s West End music scene boasts an eclectic and exciting line-up of live music this Saturday (18th April 2015). Dutch outfit, My Baby are kicking off proceedings at 2pm (before they head off to The Barrowland for a sold-out slot supporting Seasick Steve!) Joining My Baby are The Ravels, Fly Jackson, Something, Someone and Sophie Rogers. The Record Factory will also play host to an array of record sellers and vintage clothes stalls AND “vinyl only” DJ sets from XFM special guest DJS. Enough? No? No problem! Their nom, nom, nom kitchen will be open from Noon until 8.45pm AND their Beer Garden will play host to very special guest acoustic sets.

Love Music (Dundas Street, Glasgow)

Our friends at Love Music lead the celebration of independent record stores worldwide with their annual (and much anticipated) RSD event this Saturday (18th April 2015). Come for the cakes, stay for the live music . . . The exclusive (and VERY exciting) line-up includes Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5, The Mickey 9’s, Fini Tribe, Tuff Love, ex-My Chemical Romance guitarist, Frank Iero among others. The queue starts shortly before 6am, we’ll see you there!
