Gigs This Week

Indie rockers, The Courteeners are at Glasgow’s 02 Academy on Thursday (17th December 2015). The band, fronted by Liam Fray, formed in 2006 and have released four LPs to date, the most recent being 2014’s “Concrete Love”.

Home-grown heroes, Texas are at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on Friday (18th December 2015). Fronted by Sharleen Spitiri, the band recently celebrated 25 years in the music industry and have sold 35 million albums worldwide to date. The latest LP from the band was 2013’s “The Conversation”

Emerging talent, Nieves are scheduled to headline King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut on Friday (18th December 2015). The band, from Glasgow, released their self-titled, debut EP in November 2014, with second EP, “Matriarch” following in October of this year. Support comes from Akela and Sink Ships.

Glasgow-born band, GUN are at Glasgow’s Barrowland on Friday (18th December 2015). The band, who formed in 1987 are best known for their take on Cameo’s “Word Up!”. GUN have released nine studio LPs to date, the most recent being, “Frantic”, which dropped earlier this year.

Experimental country band, Woodenbox are at Glasgow’s King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut on Saturday (19th December 2015). The band, from both Glasgow and Edinburgh, came together in 2008 bonding over a shared love of a fine sandwich, spaghetti Westerns, The Beatles and all things Mariachi. Woodenbox released their 2009 debut LP, “Home And The Wildhunt” with a second LP due to follow next year.

Bay City Rollers kick off the first of FOUR consecutive gigs at Glasgow’s Barrowland on Sunday (20th December 2015). The band enjoyed major success in the mid-70s with hits including, “Shang-A-Lang” and “Bye, Bye Baby”; they announced their reunion in September of this year with their Glasgow dates selling out in just TWO MINUTES!

Queen Of Pop, Madonna brings her “Rebel Heart World Tour” to Glasgow’s SSE Hydro this Sunday (20th December 2015). Since releasing her debut single, “Everybody” in 1982, Madonna has sold over 300 million albums worldwide. “Rebel Heart” is her 13th studio LP released in March of this year; it includes the singles, “Living For Love”, “Ghosttown” and “Bitch, I’m Madonna”.

Indie rockers, Babystrange are at Glasgow’s Broadcast on Sunday (20th December 2015). The band, from Glasgow, formed in 2012 and took their name from a T Rex track. The band’s 2015 single, “Pleasure City” has cemented their place in mainstream radio.

Oran Mor play host to Dead Man Fall on Wednesday (23rd December 2015). The band, from Glasgow, draw influence from New Order and Arcade Fire, and released their brand new single, “Calexico” earlier this month.

Just Announced

Pop diva, Mariah Carey has unveiled plans to tour Europe in early 2016, kicking off with a date at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on Tuesday 15th March 2016. “The Sweet, Sweet Fantasy Tour” takes its name from Carey’s 1995 single, “Fantasy”; it will be the singer’s first tour of Europe in 13 years.
