Gigs This Week

London-born trio, Years & Years are at Glasgow’s 02 Academy tonight (Wednesday 30th March 2016). The band, who formed in 2010, released their debut LP, “Communion” in July 2015; it features their UK number one single, “King”.

Primal Scream play Glasgow’s 02 ABC tonight (Wednesday 30th March 2016). The band, from Glasgow, formed in 1982, and are out in support of their latest studio effort, “CHAOSMOSIS” which dropped earlier this month. The LP is their 11th album and features collaborations with Sky Ferreira and Haim

Glasgow’s Stereo plays host to Canadian rock ‘n’ rollers, The Sheepdogs on Thursday (31st March 2016). The band, from Sakatoon, formed in 2006 and were the first unsigned band to feature on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine in 2011. The Sheepdogs released their fifth studio effort, “Future Nostalgia” in October 2015.

Singer/songwriter, Daniel Docherty is scheduled to play Glasgow’s Record Factory on Thursday (31st March 2016). The young talent, from Bellshill, is currently unsigned and draws influence from Eric Clapton, Eva Cassidy, Led Zeppelin and Leonard Cohen. Support comes from Christy O’Donnell.

Nice ‘N’ Sleazy’s plays host to Glasgow-born band, Catholic Action on Thursday (31st March 2016) as part of their string of UK shows. The four-piece band released their latest single, “L.U.V” earlier this month.

Fresh talent, Alias Kid are at Glasgow’s Hard Rock Cafe on Friday (1st April 2016). The band, from Manchester, are the latest signing of music mogul, Alan McGee and have already been dubbed “the next Oasis”. Alias Kid released their debut LP, “Revolt To Revolt” in May 2015.

Brit’s Critics Choice 2016 Winner, Jack Garratt is at Glasgow’s 02 ABC on Friday (1st April 2016) and Edinburgh’s Liquid Room on Saturday (2nd April 2016). The singer/songwriter, from Buckinghamshire, released his debut LP, “Phase” in February of this year. 

Homegrown heroes, Chvrches are at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on Saturday (2nd April 2016). The trio, fronted by Lauren Mayberry, formed in Glasgow in 2011. Their second studio effort, “Every Open Eye” was released in September 2015; it followed their debut offering, “The Bones Of What You Believe” which dropped two years earlier. Support comes from The Twilight Sad and Shura.

London-born quartet, The Big Moon are scheduled to play Glasgow’s Stereo on Saturday (2nd April 2016). The all-female, alt-rock band dropped their new single, “Cupid” earlier this week. 

Surrey-born, singer/songwriter, Newton Faulkner is scheduled to play Glasgow’s 02 ABC on Sunday (3rd April 2016). Faulkner is out in support of his latest LP, “Human Love”, his fifth album which dropped in November 2015. Support comes from I See Rivers and James Gillespie.

Jim Jones & The Righteous Mind are the latest band of former frontman of Jim Jones Revue, Black Moses and Thee Hypnotics, and they are live at Glasgow’s Broadcast on Sunday 3rd April 2016. The band are out on tour ahead of the release of their new single, “Aldecide” next month.

Welsh indie rockers, Catfish & The Bottlemen are at Glasgow’s 02 Academy on Monday (4th April 2016). The band, who formed in North Wales in 2007, are best known for their signature song, “Cocoon”. Catfish & The Bottlemen are out on tour in support of their forthcoming LP, “The Ride”, due for release in May.

Glasgow’s 02 ABC plays host to American rock band, PVRIS on Monday (4th April 2016). The band, from Massachusetts, formed in 2013, and released their debut album, “White Noise” in November 2014.

X Factor Winners, Little Mix return to The SSE Hydro on Tuesday (5th April 2016) for their third Glasgow show on their current, “Get Weird Tour”. The girl-band won the 2011 edition of the TV talent show and have gone on to release three studio LPs, the latest being 2015’s “Get Weird”; it features their third UK number one single, “Black Magic”. Support comes from Nathan Sykes.

Just Announced

Primal Scream have announced they will play Kelvingrove’s bandstand as part of The Summer Nights gig series this summer in Glasgow. The psychedelic rockers will play the venue on Thursday 11th August 2016.

Alabama 3 will play Glasgow’s 02 ABC on Saturday 10th December 2016. The Brixton-born band are known for blending rock, blues, gospel and spoken word styles, and are best known for their track, “Woke Up This Morning”, which was used as “The Sopranos” theme song.
