New Music : Out This Week (8/12/14)

The Smashing Pumpkins “Monuments To An Elegy”

American alternative band, The Smashing Pumpkins release their 9th studio album this week. “Monuments To An Elegy” is part of the band’s ongoing project, “Teargarden By Kaleidyscope” and features the singles, “Being Beige”, “One And All (We Are)” and “Drum + Fife”, rocker Tommy Lee plays drums on the album.

Ghostface Killah “36 Seasons”

Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah releases, “36 Seasons” this week; it’s the eleventh studio album by the rapper, released via Tommy Boy Records and follows 2013’s “Twelve Reasons To Die”.

Union J “You Got It All”

X Factor rejects, Union J are having the last laugh after being voted off the TV talent show in 2012. “You Got It All” is the second studio album from the boy band, following their self-titled debut released in 2013. “You Got It All” features the title track single and “Tonight (We Live Forever)”.

Carrie Underwood “Greatest Hits : Decade #1”

American singer/songwriter, Carrie Underwood releases her first Greatest Hits compilation this week. Since winning the fourth season of “American Idol” in 2005, Underwood has gone on to become a monster success in mainstream music with 6 Grammy Awards, 16 Billboard Music Awards and a Golden Globe Award for “Best Original Song” under her belt. “Greatest Hits : Decade #1” includes “Jesus, Take The Wheel”, “Undo It”, “Before He Cheats” and latest single, “Something In The Water”.

J Cole “2014 Forest Hills Drive”

J Cole releases his third studio effort this week. “2014 Forest Hills Drive” is the address of the American rapper’s childhood home which he shared with his mother, stepfather and brother; J Cole re-bought the house in 2014. The album features the singles, “Apparently” and “G.O.M.D”.


New Music : Out This Week (24/11/14)

Olly Murs “Never Been Better”

Since coming second to Joe McElderry in the 2009 series of The X Factor, Essex boy, Olly Murs has gone on to sell over 10 million albums across the world and has supported both One Direction and idol, Robbie Williams on tour. Murs releases, “Never Been Better” today, his fourth studio album which features the lead single, “All Wrapped Up” and follows his 2010 self-titled debut, “In Case You Didn’t Know” released in 2011 and 2012’s “Right Place, Right Time”. Murs will be out on tour next Spring in support of the LP, including two dates at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro in April.

Coldplay “Ghost Stories (Live)”

“Ghost Stories” is the sixth studio album from Coldplay and was released in May of this year. “Ghost Stories (Live)” is a collection of tracks recorded live by the band on tour dates in London, Sydney, Paris, Cologne, New York and Los Angeles between April and July of this year. The live CD also includes a DVD.

Iggy Azalea “Reclassified”

The sassy rapper dropped her debut album, “The New Classic” in April of this year, which features the singles, “Work”, “Bounce”, “Change Your Life”, smash hit, “Fancy” featuring Charli XCX and “Black Widow”, her collaboration with Rita Ora. This week Azalea releases, “Reclassified”, a bumper edition of her original debut, but with added bonuses, including collaborations with Ellie Goulding and Mo.

Clean Bandit “New Eyes (Special Edition)”

Electro, synth-pop band, Clean Bandit formed in 2009 and released their debut album, “New Eyes” in May of this year, which features the singles, “A+E”, “Mozart’s House”, “Dust Clears”, “Rather Be”, “Extraordinary”, “Come Over”. The band are treating their fans this week with a special edition release of their debut, which includes their latest single, “Real Love”.

Pixie Lott “Platinum Hits”

Currently strutting her sassy stuff on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, blonde bombshell, Pixie Lott releases her first Greatest Hits compilation this week, “Platinum Hits”. Lott burst onto the pop scene in 2009 with her sultry pop-smash, “Mama Do” and has gone on to release three studio albums and scored countless Top 10 singles, including “Boys & Girls”, “All About Tonight” and “Nasty”. “Platinum Hits” includes Lott’s cover of “Caravan Of Love”, plus brand new track, “I Got Love For Xmas”.



New Music : Out This Week (03/11/14)

Superfood “Don’t SayThat”

Indie new-blood, Superfood release their debut offering, “Don’t Say That” today. It includes singles, “Superfood” and “TV”. The band are currently on tour in the UK as part of NME New Breed Tour 2014 with dates in Manchester, London and Bristol this week, with support from Glaswegian band, Honeyblood.

Calvin Harris

Dumfries DJ, Calvin Harris releases his fourth studio album, “Motion” this week. The superstar spinner has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the pop business including Rihanna, Ellie Goulding and Scissor Sisters, to name but a very few. “Motion” includes the smash-hit single, “Summer”, “Blame” and “Under Control”.

Damien Rice “My Favourite Faded Fantasy”

Irish singer/songwriter, Damien Rice releases “My Favourite Faded Fantasy” this week, his third album and first studio album in 8 years. Rice shot to fame in 2002 with the release of his debut, “O”, largely thanks to signature song, “Cannonball”, which was later covered by girl group, Little Mix and the inclusion of “The Blower’s Daughter” on the “Closer” movie soundtrack, which starred Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Clive Owen and Natalie Portman. “My Favourite Faded Fantasy” includes the singles, “I Don’t Want To Change You”, “The Greatest Bastard” and title track, “My Favourite Faded Fantasy”.

Simple Minds “Big Music”

Scottish rockers, Simple Minds release their 16th studio album today. It’s their first studio effort since 2009’s “Grafitti Soul” and “Big Music” features the single, “Honest Town”.

New Music : Out This Week (20/10/14)

Slipknot “5 : The Gray Chapter”

Slipknot release their fifth studio effort today, their first studio album since 2008’s “All Hope Is Gone” and their first without bassist, Paul Gray and drummer, Joey Jordison; Gray overdosed in May 2010 while Jordison quit the band last December. The album includes the singles, “The Negative One”, “The Devil And I” and “Custer”.

Bear’s Den “Islands”

Trio, Bear’s Den release their debut album this week. It follows their EPs, “Agape” and “Without/Within” and the country/folk band will be out on the road in February and March 2015.

Inspiral Carpets “Inspiral Carpets”

Veteran Manchester-band, Inspiral Carpets release their fifth, self-titled album today, their first since 1994’s “Devil Hopping”. It includes the single, “You’re So Good For Me”. The band will be out on tour later this year, including a gig at Glasgow’s 02 ABC in December.

Ben Howard “I Forget Where We Were”

Singer/songwriter, Ben Howard releases his highly-anticipated second studio album today, “I Forget Where We Were”. It follows his 2011 debut, “Every Kingdom”. The album includes the title track single, “I Forget Where We Were”.

Billy Idol “Kings & Queens Of The Underground”

Rebel rocker, Billy Idol makes a triumphant return with his seventh studio album today. It’s his first studio effort for almost a decade following 2005’s “Devil’s Playground”. It includes the single, “Can’t Break Me Down”.

Jessie Ware “Tough Love”

Singer/Songwriter, Jessie Ware puts out her second studio album today, it follows her 2012 debut offering, “Devotion” and includes the singles, “Tough Love” and “Say You Love Me”

You + Me “Rose Ave”

Pop punk wildchild, P!nk (aka Alecia Moore) has teamed up with Canadian singer/songwriter, Dallas Green to form You + Me. The duo are set to unleash their hybrid of folk and soft rock onto the mainstream with debut album, “Rose Ave”, released today.

Slash “World On Fire”

Former Guns ‘N’ Roses guitarist, Slash releases his third solo album, “World On Fire” this week. It follows 2012’s “Apocalyptic Love” and his self-titled debut from 2010. The album has already spawned five singles, released over the past 4 months, including, “Bent To Fly”, “30 Years To Life”, “Stone Blind” and titled track, “World On Fire”.

Jessie J “Sweet Talker”

Following her 2011 debut, “Who You Are” and 2013’s “Alive”, Jessie J returns this week with her third helping, “Sweet Talker”. The album includes her smash-hit collaboration with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, “Bang Bang” and latest single, “Burnin’ Up” featuring 2 Chainz.

Ella Henderson “Chapter One”

Spawned from the world of reality TV, Ella Henderson came 6th in The X Factor in 2012. This week she releases her debut studio album, “Chapter One”, it includes her hit single, “Ghost” and latest single, “Glow”.

U2 “Songs Of Innocence”

Today sees legendary Dublin band, U2 release THAT album. “Songs Of Innocence” marks the band’s first studio release in 5 years, following 2009’s “No Line On The Horizon” and is already the most controversial album of 2014 thanks to a little deal with Apple and the violation of millions of iTunes music libraries . . .

We Were Promised Jetpacks “Unravelling”

The Edinburgh-based indie band release their third studio album, following their 2009 debut, “These Four Walls” and 2011’s “In The Pit Of The Stomach”“Unravelling” includes the single, “Safety In Numbers”.

Weezer “Everything Will Be Alright In The End”

“Everything Will Be Alright In The End” is the ninth studio album from Weezer, released today. It is their first release via Republic Records and was produced by The Cars frontman, Ric Ocasek. It includes the singles, “Cleopatra” and “Back To The Shack”.

Johnny Marr “Playland”

Former Smiths guitarist and Morrissey’s ex-sidekick, Johnny Marr releases his second solo album today. “Playland” follows “The Messenger” released in 2013 and includes the single, “Easy Money”, released in August.

Hozier “Hozier”

Andrew Hozier-Byrne or Hozier, as he is simply know, is a singer.songrwiter fron Bray in County Wicklow, Ireland who releases his debut self-titled offering today. The album follows two EPs; debut, “Take Me To Church” from 2013 and “Eden”, released earlier this year. The album has already reached #1 in his native Ireland where it was released last month.

Lady Antebellum “747”

“747” is released this week and is the sixth studio album from country outfit, Lady Antebellum. It follows 2013’s “Golden” and features single, “Bartender” and forthcoming single, “Freestyle” scheduled for release later this month.

New Found Glory “Resurrection”

American rock band, New Found Glory releases, “Resurrection” this week, their eighth studio album today. It marks their debut release via Independent Label Hopeless Records and includes the singles, “Selfless” and “Ready & Willing”.
